Southeast Aerospace to sell, install, and service the RoadRunner EFI
to end operators on behalf of Astronautics

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, October 11, 2016 – Astronautics Corporation of America has signed an agreement with Southeast Aerospace (SEA) to become an official dealer of the Astronautics Flight Instrument (AFI) 4700 RoadRunner™ electronic flight instrument (EFI).

SEA integrates parts distribution and maintenance, repair, and overhaul with complete aircraft modification services. Located in Melbourne, Florida, SEA completes the integration, sales, and service of avionics, instrumentation, and related systems for the general aviation, corporate, regional, and rotorcraft aircraft markets.

Under the agreement, SEA will sell and install the RoadRunner EFI to operators as well as serve as an authorized Support Center. In addition, SEA may help secure any Supplemental Type Certificates needed to enable installations in aircraft.

Astronautics’ RoadRunner EFI is a form-fit-function upgrade that has been designed to replace current attitude direction indicator and horizontal situation indicator primary flight instruments, offering helicopter operators the choice of moving from electromechanical instruments and legacy EFIs to modern digital displays. The new EFI enhances safety, reduces operating costs, and lowers installation downtime.

The RoadRunner EFI can be easily installed without any changes to the wiring, power, avionics rack, or cooling requirements. This EFI expands flight sensor capability, including internal Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System and provisions for Synthetic Vision, which provides a real-time, three-dimensional rendering of the terrain in front of the helicopter.

“SEA is familiar with the RoadRunner EFI and is already promoting it to customers,” said Astronautics Vice President of Business Development and Product Strategy Dan Ryan. “We look forward to working with SEA as an official Astronautics dealer to modernize legacy ADI and HSI primary flight instruments with this new EFI.”

Astronautics has begun establishing a dealer network to expand market coverage and support its new RoadRunner EFI and other display products.

The dealer network allows Astronautics to improve sales and marketing efforts and provide global product support. To become an Astronautics dealer, companies are required to be in good standing; have access to customers with targeted aircraft; install the products they sell; have a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified Part 145 repair station approval; and have experienced technicians to install and provide repair services.

The worldwide network is being tailored for each region based on local regulations and is a good way to address the retrofit market for helicopters and fixed-wing, turbine engine aircraft.
